They all use exotic steels – M390 is their “base steel” these days and the quality is unbelievable. Shiro uses MRBS (Multi Row Bearing System) in some of their newer knives which makes for the absolute smoothest opening and closing action anywhere. They’re nearly impossible to acquire new, they’re all around or above a thousand dollars(!), they don’t look like anything special to the average Joe, and they’re absolutely incredible. Shirogorov knives makes a lot of fairly similar-looking models, so I’ve included some of them here. Note if you’re into fixed blade knives check this out instead.
